Tara Bicknell - News & Public Affairs Director
My mom taught me never to touch her vinyl and to be good to people, in that order. So I volunteered to DJ in 2006 as soon as KHNS let me in. Now I get to do the news in a place where the ratio of dogs to people is probably higher than cell phones to people. I've written for nationwide syndicates and worldwide press in past media jobs, but I never talked to anyone who actually read or heard my news. It's good to talk to people here about things that matter to them. Every place has their thing. I'm just glad ours isn't too many people. Or traffic. Or a bad view. |

Bill Annis - Production Assistant
I was raised in the heart of the Midwest, Lafayette, IN, where I finished an undergraduate degree in 1992. Originally from Denver, I've been in Alaska 10 years. Love the outdoors and sometimes wintering in a Mexican hacienda (a few weeks at a time). I'm training my cat to snowshoe (just kidding). She hates getting her paws cold. Love new, old, traditional, alternative, bluegrass, but especially jam band Country music. Author of Alaska Journal -- A Cyclist's Adventure Tour in SE Alaska (1993). |

Kay Clements -General Manager Music is what brought me to radio but the fun and satisfaction of working with an organization that provides so much pleasure and education is what keeps me hooked. I'm really happy to be part of KHNS and living in the Upper Lynn Canal.

Amelia Nash - Program Director Amelia Nash was born and raised in Haines. It is possible that her obsession with radio is hereditary, perhaps from the great-grandfather on her mother’s side who ran a pioneer radio station out of his living room. She is a fan of vinyl, Adobe Audition and very fine pens. In her free time she is an artist and an apologetic karaoke enthusiast. |

Leslie Ross - Development Director With $150 in my pocket I moved to Haines in 1994. Since I never became a rock star outside of my living room, I found KHNS, the next best thing and quickly became a volunteer DJ hosting morning Sound Waves. Working for years plying the mighty waves of the Lynn Canal as a boat captain, I recently swam to shore to try the “air waves” as the Development Director and serving as the interim Program Director at KHNS, with a great view of the water from my office when I long for the sea.

Misty Wiley - Skagway News Asst.
I moved to Skagway in 2007 with my family of music lovers and have since found that I have found a home. I’ve been attracted to KHNS from the beginning, and the fact that KHNS is listener-supported just makes the whole thing better. Ever a fan of supporting local endeavors, I’m excited to be a part of the KHNS news team. |

Pick Click Give

Deadline is March 31st, 2012
The Alaska Permanent Fund application time is now and there is no easier way to remember and support your favorite non-profit. When you file your application online you can also Pick, Click and Give to your local radio station. KHNS is one of the many charitable organizations you will find when you file for your PFD.
In 2011 KHNS received $1050 in contributions that went directly towards a new production computer for the KHNS newsroom. Our radio station is a nuts and bolts operation, comprised of many moving parts that need tender care. This year we are hoping to double our gift amount to assist in ongoing projects at KHNS. More information when you file at http://www.pfd.state.ak.us
Deadline is March 31st, 2012
