Clarification: In the story about the Haines 2015 survey, the terms “community center” and “recreation center” were inadvertently used inter-changeably in some cases. The Haines Borough did not receive a grant to study the possibility of a recreation center; it appropriated money to develop ideas for a possible community center. The borough initiated Community Center RFQ Steering Committee which earlier this year became the Borough Facility master Plan Steering Committee. It remains an ad hoc committee.
