The state regulatory commission suspended a proposed 18.16 percent rate increase for Alaska Power Company customers. An interim six percent rate increase WILL go into effect while the state decides on the permanent increase. We'll have more on Tuesday's evening newscast. Another winter storm warning in effect starting at 4 p.m. Monday. Heavy snow expected for Haines Borough, Lynn Canal, Taiya Inlet and Skagway. Accumulation of 5 to 12 inches forecasted with greatest amounts northwest of Haines along the Haines Highway and near White Pass along the Klondike Highway. Stay safe out there and stay tuned to KHNS for information and any closures, if the storm materializes.

Another forecast of strong winds and blowing snow in Skagway and a winter storm advisory until 6 p.m. for Haines. Highs 21-27. The Haines Police Department advises residents that Mud Bay Road is impassible from the harbor to the cannery at Letnikof due to heavy snow and stuck vehicles. DOT is on its way, but anyone traveling that way is advised to wait a few hours... Be safe, everyone!
